The scorching summer heat can bring in a lot of problems for the skin, which includes sunburn, tanning and rashes. The humid weather further leads to sweaty skin — which only adds grime and dirt to the body. But, fret not! Here are some effective skincare DIY routines that can help you keep your skin healthy and glowing during summers. Read on.
Green tea and aloe vera juice ice therapy
You can make ice cubes with natural ingredients like green tea and aloe vera. Make green tea, pour into an ice tray and keep in the freezer. Do the same with aloe vera juice. These cubes can be applied around the eyes for a few seconds at a time to decrease puffiness and even dark circles. The same can be done with cucumber juice to soothe the skin after sun exposure and sunburn.
Fuller’s earth or Multani mitti face pack
During summers the skin tends to become oily. Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti) which is a natural coolant for the skin, helps in pore closure and oil reduction. Use a paste made of Multani Mitti and Rose water and apply it on your face three times a week. When it dries, wash it off.
Sandalwood, a natural cooler for skin rashes
Skin rashes due to the harsh heat are common during the summer season. These can be treated with a quick DIY hack. In a bowl, add some Sandalwood paste and Rose water. Mix well. Both Sandalwood and Rose water are coolants and help treat skin rashes. Apply on the affected area and wash with normal water after 20-30 minutes.
Apart from these hacks, the best way to avoid the brunt of the excessive sun is to use an umbrella, wear sun-protective clothing, hats and sunglasses in the sun. Try to expose as little of your body as possible to direct sunlight.
